Adrian Fruiter is the designer of the avenir. He designed this in 1988. Avenir font basically is the typeface. 
The word of the avenir is derived from the French word which means future. The avenir is basically originated from the Rebar type font. This rebar font is designed by the Jacob erbar. But the main difference between the avenir and the ancestor version of the avenir means the erbar is that the avenir is more organic then it. In earlier days there are the three forms of the avenir and these all three forms are with the three different versions. Two very important version of the avenir font is the roman and the oblige. But now days there are 6 different forms of the avenir font is present. 
After the work of many years the Adrean Futiger successfully forms the new form of the avenir which is named as the avenir next. There are total 24 types pf fonts for the avenir next and there are total 6 different types of the weights of the avenir font system and used in many new computers. There are many modified forms of the avenir fonts are also present for example the very commonly used variant of the avenir font is the janna. Janna is basically the Arabic version of the avenir and is designed by the Nadine Chahene. This new version of the avenir font is very beautiful and is used by many people in the daily life. 
Now come towards the different uses of the avenir in this world. The one of the largest company of cell phones used the avenir font in their mobiles. The use of the avenir is increasing day by day in the field of publishing. Many important news papers also used the avenir font on their publishing. The one of the most popular news channel, BBC also used the avenir font in their news and the headlines. Many companies now use thee avenir fonts in their advertisements because they are more attractive then the any other font type. Japan airlines are also used the avenir and on the all aircrafts of the Japan airlines many things are written on the plane and in the airport with the same font.
